That is a sexy guitar. Don't need it but I still want it! I hope to try one out someday.

clearly they were trying to copy a 335 and horribly failed because it's nothing like a 335. wait... that doesn't make any sense.

nah, it's a hagstrom viking copy.

Is that the "official story"? I mean I know both are bolt on full hollow bodies with single coils and the viking was out first, but was the Viking that popular in the 60's where fender needed a share of that market? It seems more likely they would try to compete with some Gibson styles before they took on more affordable brands.

I think they probably were probably looking to compete with the 335 but they wanted to do it in a way more characteristic of Fender. so they basically borrowed heavily from the viking as it had a lot of fender-like features. nothing wrong with that, hagstrom definitely took plenty from fender.

What's the actual value on one of these? About $1,500?

according to WIKI

The very un-Fender like instrument was designed by Roger Rossmeisl (who had previously also designed instruments for Rickenbacker)

This makes total sense, as to why it looks the way it does.

Not to beat a dead horse but this is one of the most underwhelming guitars ever.

Owning a Coronado is like having a pecker--even if it isn't the best in the world, you can't stop playing with it.

I could even paint it LPB, but it would hide the ONE PIECE top and bottom. Granted it was my first archtop, and has teh checkerboard!

Are you speaking from experience playing one or just aesthetically?

I don't care for the blue/gold combo myself but I would probably seriously consider selling/trading my rickenbacker if one of these came up in good enough shape:

I've wanted one of these since the second I saw one, haha.

I don't know what people are talking about when they say that they sound bad...I think they have a really cool sound. Then again, I like those weird early 80's model Fenders, too, so what do I know.
