gorgeous, quiet, surreal. if you were to follow the first pic around the right, you'd actually end up on the left of the other pic. two seperate lakes, connected by streams. the big one (first pic) is spring fed, and my family used to own the entire area, until it was purchased (and forgotten about) by the US Forestry Service (who maintains the whole of Mark Twain Nat'l Forests).
the second night (pics are from the 3rd & 4th), we had to camp on an old service road in the middle of 5000 acres of control-burned forest (MTNF), and it rained like crazy. 8+ hours in a dinky ass tent with nothing to do but sleep/toss/turn/get damp.
