Hi everone,Im new to this forum,,,I just started my own short scale guitar company Durango Guitar Works..Your looking at the first proto from the factory.Maple neck 22f 24 scale Alder Body...I was thinking about putting this on ebay but I thought Id give you guys a quick look first...What do you think. I'm in this camp too.
I mean, it looks like a solid instrument... the construction and finish in the photo look awesome, but it's just not a style that grabs me. It's a little too reminiscent of the high performance noodler guitars that, say, Ibanez, Schecter, ESP or something. I'm not a noodley player

It's right pretty though.

Congratulations on starting your own shortscale company, and welcome.
Personally, this is my critique:
- The next looks too pale, anaemic against that body.
- The lower horn looks too big for me.
- It might just be the picture, but the neck pickup doesn't look straight.
- I don't think that the silver pickup rings work.
- I think that the knob placement could be improved and really should be parallel with the pickup switch line.
- Not a fan of the burst.
Don't mean to sound totally negative, but thought it would be more useful to give an honest opinion than blow smoke up your ass.

So you've got the design coming out of a factory?
Many pre-orders? Or idea as to how many you might market?
Is interesting to see someone start out and how they go about it.

My only advice I can give is don't take a year to get someone their guitar after you take their order oh no...

everything just looks totally wonk. i'm with thom on most of it.

that bridge has got to go. that's (as you know) a hardtail strat bridge, and looks huge and honkin' on that small body, and IMO should only be used on strats.

maybe try an adjustable wrap around for an LP JR or SG JR? i think that would help immensely.

knob placement is too 'rear-routed squier 51' for my tastes, along with the maple neck. i despise tele neck heels though, so go figure.

long story short: it looks like a butchered mini-strat, which is never a good thing.

i admire what you're doing to the max, just maybe do something a little less reminiscent of ibanender next time?

i do love the neck heel contour though, more guitars should have that.

Congratulations and good luck on the company. That guitar looks very high quality from the pictures, and I dig the headstock shape.

Unfortunately I fall in with the group of those who wouldn't buy a shred style guitar, although I always thought it would make more sense for shredders to want shorter necks to reach further in arpeggios etc. I would be very curious to see what you would come up with in a more 50's/60's inspired guitar. Are more designs on the way? Also just wondering what are you charging for one of these?

Well there are already a bunch of vintage styles out there in the 24' scale..Thats why I used to build my own..and here we are after a trip to NAMM 2 yrs ago..mid to upper 3 in price

I love it man, as a fanboy of Ibanez that guitar is awesome. Is the neck joint compatible with Ibanez's AANJ? It seems similar but one of the screws looks offset.

The neck is not compatible with anything,Im with ya on the Ibanez body but the necks were just to big for me,,Thanks for the reply...This is the only guitar that has this burst finish..Its a 1 of a kind

Either way, contoured neck joints like that do make for better playability. Have you considered any other fretboard woods for the future?

Which makes total sense from a business perspective....and really the mainstream shred/modern player market doesn't usually cater to the smaller handed....you have a pretty nice share of a niche market.
