I just edited your last two image posts.

You tend to post them like this...

and with large pictures that makes them difficult to view and as you've seen can create a horizontal scrollbar. The align part I added isn't necessary but makes things a little easier to view. It's best to also add a space between pictures for the same reason. So the above images are then shown as...

If you're not sure click edit or quote on one of your posts to see what I've done. I'm not trying to be a dictator about formatting, just make it easier for you to share your projects.

I always tried to group landscape or portrait photos together and never post more than 2 photos wide. I know 3 photos wide stretches the browser window. If you prefer only one per line with space, I can start doing that way.

brass saddles compensated pattern
I like that one except for the gold plate. I found one with the chrome plate with the same saddles and cheaper on the same website.

Thanks for the tip. I may seriously go with this one. It's the same price as a traditional one with brass saddles.

Progress update. I ordered some parts from Guitarfetish so I can move forward. I hope to borrow a drill press to make sure all my drills are straight. I need a little more TLC on the body to fix some minor imperfections. I don't want to route the neck pocket until I have the parts in. I ordered the following parts:

Tele bridge with compensated brass saddles
Tele jack and cup
pickguard screws
neck plate and screws
String ferrules.

I want to layout all the parts so I can get the placement of all the drill holes. I need to drill holes to run the pickup wires through. I am happy I am still making steady progress and learning a lot along the way.

I got some unexpected free time this evening and decided to try my hand at routing the neck pocket. It' not bad for my first go at it. Small crack in the lower lip (pic#2) when I first put the neck in. Luckily it did not snap off. I have glued it and clamped it. I am able to slip the neck into the neck pocket without much resistance. I heard you don't want the fit to be too tight or the neck won't fit after you paint and clear coat the guitar.
I actually was able to hold the guitar with the clamp on to see how the guitar feels. I love the nitro neck. I am getting really excited about this guitar. Once I get my parts in, I drill the neck pocket screw holes and line up all the screws on the surface. I really only need the pickups and then it will actually make some noise.

Parts update: Got my bridge, ferrules, Tele jack, neck plate and pickguard screws in today. I laid out all the parts on the guitar to line up my screw holes for the pickguard, bridge, and electronics cavity. I made some small errors in routing 2 of the cavities I will need to fix when I do more body work. You can see it in the 2nd pic near the bridge pocket. For my first serious project, I am very pleased and I now realize that most problems are fixable. I need to get a drill press to make my screw holes straight, especially for the ferrule holes. I will need some advice when it comes to installing the tele jack. I went with the Wilkinson bridge with the compensated saddles. $30 on Guitarfetish.

Thanks, BP. The body is still rough, but I am already thinking of color ideas. I am seriously considering fiesta red, but we will have to wait a bit first.

That's all looking well. With that nice if a grain I recommend doing some sort of fiesta red transparent finish. That would look brilliant with some binding. Those Wilkenson bridges are great too, I've read up about them on tdpri and everyone seems to love them. Brass saddles would be the only change I'd make

It may be hard to tell from the picture, but they are brass saddles. I will need some pointers on the fiesta red with the transparent finish, but it would be a shame to cover up that beautiful grain entirely.

I think Fiesta Red would be great. Maybe it's because you only ever see Tele's in Black, Red, Blonde or Sunburst, but when they are any other colour they look awesome.

I thought I might go butterscotch with the black pickguard which is hot, but it is so common. I was going to save the Fiesta red for another project (jazzmaster or jag-stang) but I saw pics of FR teles and they were completely sexy. I like Haze's idea of letting a little grain show through with a transparent finish. Would I do that by not using a primer paint and just using the Fiesta Red for the entire process and then clear coating it. This one is a refinished Baja, which is what I am emulating.

And why's a Strat neck special, anyway? But I wouldn't be averse contours on a Tele.

I am worried about screwing up the lines on the guitar. I love how smooth the lines are this guitar and I want to find the best way to accomplish it. I might try a 1/8" roundover bit.

no, you mean, if it was 'ruined' i'd like it. i mean if it was modernized.

i like regular strat headstocks and big strat headstocks on teles. plus i think tele neck heels are queer.

i know, i know, how odd of me to have a personal preference on such an iconic slab of wood.

yeah, don't listen to these people's silly suggestions (because they're wrong. my suggestions are better  ). I say paint it a solid color. that way it will be easier to cover up any little booboos you've made in cutting the thing. transparent colors almost always look tacky and ugly.

to round over the edges, I would just sand it down by hand.

I've owned Telecasters with ('72 Telecaster Deluxe) and without (Baja Telecaster) contours. I've been able to see my ribs when I get out of the shower since I got down to my fighting weight, so I'm hardly carrying any cushioning, and I still can't see why they're needed for comfort. That upper forearm rash should be worn as a badge of honour. I just think they look daft with contours; it's sort of my right to feel that way too.

Equally I think contours suit something as sleek as a Jaguar, but a workingman's slab like the Telecaster just seems fruity with them to me.

Mind you, you don't like the chrome on a Jaguar, so our tastes are clearly polar opposites on guitar aesthetic.
