Look at the demographics. People on these forums often own offsets and play indie or are old and play surf. I started going to more indie concerts this year and I have never seen so many offsets.
Back in the day, indie kids bought Jags and JMs cause they were cheap and plentiful. Now people pay lots of money for these things, while cheap strats fill pawn shops
they look hellish though, and aesthetics are a large part of playing music- or should i say, 'indie' musicians are generally a very conservative bunch?
Did not Mustangs and Jaguars look hellish in the late eighties? I don't know, I was only two or three years old at the time, and hadn't quite started playing yet.

I think the current indie music scene is much more of a fashion show than about making good music. Actually, that goes for almost all current music.

Nope.
Really? Just turn on MTV. Watch a Lady Gaga video....
As far as current Indie. They all look the same. Offset guitar, plaid shirt, tight pants, a bunch of pedals and some ratty Fenders, Orange and Vox amps in the background. Its all about being like everyone else. Things aren't done out of necessity, it is about being cool. After the show go drink PBR and Jim Beam at the bar.

What a sweeping and inaccurate generalization. There's like two "indie" bands on shortscale, if that. Also, Im going to go a ahead and remind the whole board that "indie" is the worst fucking name for a genre ever. Example:
Lightning Bolt
Tom Waits
Bon Iver
These are all in fact on indie labels. They are by definition indie bands. The music that is usually called indie should usually just be called "shit pop that's too shitty for major labels"
