Short Scale Maple Necks

The last run in '84 was from leftover parts (plenty of leftover maple) and was sort of a 20th year
anniversary, those didn't have serial numbers on the headstock for some reason

I didn't know they made mustangs in 1984... any idea how many were made? I'm guessing it must have been a pretty small number. Was Fender still owned by CBS at this point?

Apparently in 1984, Fender made one last batch of U.S. made Mustangs for Yamano Music Store (a major Fender distributor in Japan) as the 20th Anniversary of the Mustang.

otherwise they stopped making them in 1982 when they started making all the bullets and established Squier.

I also want to have a Mustang or Duo with maple neck. Anyone tried USACG necks? They have a 24" scale maple neck and also have stainless steel fret as an option, which I also want. Curious if anyone has had experience using one on a Mustang or Duo body?

Does anyone know what year that fender came out with the brazillian rosewood necks for the early 60s musicmasters? I had one long ago but foolishly sold it.

I've got a jap reissue from circa 1994. The mapel neck makes it play a lot faster and it has a really nice finishtoo. Much easier to clean - I'll never go back to rosewood!

I had the exact opposite experience. I picked up a 77 Stang just like Reece's and I just couldn't get into the Maple neck. If I never owner a maplestang again I'd be okay with. I understand why people like them, it just isn't my thing.
