Now, I know that there are/were HH Jags, but I thought they were only "Big Block" stylee jet black doohickies. Is this a mod job? Fake?

I'd definitely put a pearloid or black pg on it. Your thoughts?

Fender Japan made these (maybe still does). These are pretty common, there were at least 5 on fleabay last week. And one for sale locally.

They were made in sunburst, the crazy red/black burst, and another color.

I've never seen this finish, but it looks pretty standard. I think it's the finish that makes it look odd.

Bear in mind that Fender Japan make (or have made) pretty much every Fender you could imagine.

other way around, my friend. the "standard" hh jag special is the black one, and mf still carries those. it was the burst finishes they blew out; one a red/black burst, the other the model pictured in this auction. there might still be some state-side vendors carrying them, but i think for the most part, fender usa stopped importing them last year.

the black ones are down to a street price of $800, incidentally, which isn't a fantastic price, but not bad for a brand new cij jag.

They had these at the beginning of the year, along with menstrual burst ones. They were on MF for 499, but they recently removed them from their website.

Yeah that's a pretty bad price considering you can get a real Jag for less.
