as i was strollingthrough eb** again, i found this pretty amp:

Should I bid on it? Or rather buy a factory new Ac30 Heritage head?

Im not too much of a freak when it comes to Orange amps, but if this can be had at a 1000 â‚¬ or so I'd consider it the better deal than a new Vox. Does Vox even produce in England nowadays?

It also says pick-up only. So likely no one will bid on this and you can get it for the 950. It's close to NL though and you would have to drive there.

those are very cool. people usually switch all the knobs out to one color (i've seen a couple: one nice example and one that was converted to a head).

that's the nicest specimen, and you should grab that shit!

oranges aren't worth the money to me, but they're very nice.

120 Watt amp better than 30W amp? Why does an amps country of origin matter?

vintage Orange below 1000 â‚¬ vers. new amp for more than that was my thought. Though if Cleo has to pick it up in person it might work out around the same price. And yes I think it's lame that Vox is producing even most of the high end stuff in China and not in England.

If they did manufacture in England then the consumer would have to pick up the extra cost, i'm guessing this would be more than double?
Even though the product would have been built to the same spec & quality.

don't think so. There are several companies that did not go to the far east with production of their higher end stuff. Laney, Marshall and Orange in England, Engl, Hughes and Kettner and Rath in Germany, Fender in the USA and Mexico ... Im not speaking of the VT or Pathfinder series, but the AC Amps and so. Other companies can do their a-grand-costing tube amps in their countries of origin. For them it's a selling argument for an expensive classic amp, and the Vox AC 30 is such an expensive classic amp imho.

I agree that it's no longer a necessary loss in quality to produce in China. But if we don't give a damn we might not have to wonder that people don't find a job around here. But again, that's just what I think. I bought asian made gear too and will do in the future. I just don''t get it why Vox ... what I said above - when other companies don't have to do that to survive.

I don't know about the amp tough - i love vintage tones, but idon't like the reliability of vintage amps.......
Hmm EL84 Class A versus a EL34 120 Watt Monstah - I think I'll let this one pass, i don't need fucking 120 watts and
I think it will sound similar to my bandmates fender twin reverb

Yeah the current ac30s do sound good, but 2 friends of mine had reliability problems with the custom classic series ac's. A nearby shop ended
their business with vox because there were too many problems with the custom classic.
Don't know about the new ones though

As far as I'm aware, the problems were with the very first few batches they shipped.

AFAIK, there are still issues with the CC2's. they sound good, but they don't hang on like they used to. i see them for sale round here all the time, but most have had extensive work or are factory refurbs.
