VOX AC100CPH [w/ Shitty Demo Pg 2]

so we practice wednesday nights, i took my cam had some recording gear around so i could finish my demo of this thing
turned her on, let the tubes warm up for abotu 5 minutes, hit the standby switch...
and it sounded like my tubes discharged, then nothing
the stadby light went off everything dead, got power
looked like all the tubes were firing

phoned a friend who repairs amps, he said it sounds like the tubes
..
so tomorrow i phone the shop i bought it at 3 and a half months ago and see what can be done
i'm unimpressed
despite the fact that i was super stoked about the tone i was pulling from this amp..
if its dead, as it appears, and depending upon what they can do/turn around time
i may try to get a partial rebate and find myself with a love buzz in a few months

the fun thing is that we have a gig on saturday.

How I know them.
At least tell yourself: better now than during soundcheck at the gig.

true, and its also good i never got around to selling my fender fm100.. so at least i have something to play through

price will be the final say.. as shipping to me for either of those will be a hundred bucks minimum
and i hate you for taunting me with my dream amp (although a 60watt version instead of the 100H but yeah.. it would do..)

"No Power, everything dead" almost always means a blown fuse. If it has a self-resetting fuse, you'd be able to get it on again if you powered it off for a few minutes. Of course, whatever caused the fuse to blow would still be a problem. Usually it's tubes being blown or arcing. Other times it's a loose wire.

Check the fuse, then check the tubes.

the power would stay on, just nothing coming off of standby, and the standby light would stay off. it looked like all the tubes were still light up but who knows
i figure better off to take it in as with it being 3 1/2 months old some sort of warranty should be in place
but good call on the fuse (i checked it about an hour ago, and it looked okay)

Took it into the shop this morning the figure they will have it for about a month, gave me a mesa dual rectifier on loan till it's fixed all covered under the warranty. I've got a day to play with the Mesa to dial in the tone I want before our next gig

at least they are taking care of me and the timing would only be worse if it had happened at sound check

Wow, what a good shop. Loaning you an amp worth three or four times worth the one they're repairing for you. The shops around me would be generous to lend a hot rod series fender. Clips off the Mesa while you have it?

Yeah, that's a sweet deal.
Dual rectifiers sound pretty good on the clean channel and pushed hard with with pedals.

i think knowing half the shop and playing gigs with the guys who works there helped, i had a choice between a marshall head or the mesa, opted for the mesa
i can't remember what model the marshall was but i think it was one of the new vintage modified ones.

i'll try and make a demo of the mesa while i have it but i make no promises.
