I've had bad luck with guitar cracking there. I had a Washburn Idol I got that was cracked there. I had it professionally fixed 3 times. It stayed together fine guitar wouldn't stay in tune at all.

Rob(og) has stated a couple of times that a good glue join will be stronger than the wood it replaces. I would be confident that this guitar can be fixed to a very playable condition. However, I wouldn't be confident that it could do so under my care. I suppose that's the thing to be considered.

My dad has always said the same thing. And I trust him a lot. He has built bows and all kind of stuff. He's actually building a plane in our basement right now. I think the issue with the guitar that I had fixed is that the guitar tech was too scared to open up the joint enough to get a decent glue joint in there.
