I'd buy one but Amazon is the only place I can see to order one. Ever buy a guitar from Amazon?

Never a guitar, but I've gotten tons of other shit from there without a problem. These things look fucking awesome.

Ditto^ Amazon would surely be fine to use, even if it would feel strange getting a guitar from them.

I do like these. A Lot. Seems like a great price too, considering it's a limited run.

they had a goldtop at parkway the other day....it had a "hold" tag on it.

the afore mentioned tobacco burst was still there.....personally I'd rather the burst but goldtops really are a love or hate thing.

Also note these are very light since they're the chambered lp design.

I think I would love the look of these more if they had dot inlays instead of trapezoids.

I think it would look cool.

I'm so meh about these meh doesn't even cover it.

Les Paul studio= boring (sorry Nick). Satin finish looks well, dull. Comprehensively labelled knobs= marketed to idiots.
Westtexasred I'm a little confused- you've owned a bunch of Les Pauls recently that are/were much more exciting and hotter looking than these cheap ones. What's so great about em?

I dunno, It looks like a good value to me. I am buying it to replace my Les Paul Junior(which I will sell if I like the Gold Top better)..

I think that the fact that a regular les paul studio is over a grand new and the pups are the weakest part (in my opinion) and p90s are my prefered pickup, and a p90 les paul runs lie 2500 new or something like that, this is pretty cool. I would prefer it to be better decked out, but in all honesty, the fact that they are putting a real les paul with real gibson p90 pups out there for under 900 cash is great. Wait until these pop up on the used market for 650 or so and you got yourself a great guitar for a great price. Even at 849 it is a good deal... SO with a case around 950 shiped to your door. Still well less than half of a standard les paul gold top with p90's but most of the mojo...

No offense taken. I've been using the Ric and Viking so much that the Les Paul doesn't even feel or sound right to me anymore....I've not gigged with it once and I've been trying to unload it for the past 6 months or so, albeit not very aggressively. After I get back from my vacation in June it's hitting eBay. The money will most likely go towards a Vox jaguar organ (or continental if I can somehow find one cheap enough).

As far as this thing goes though Tim, in person they look straight class, satin finish at all. Honestly, when I saw these in the shop, the fact that they were beautiful guitars with p90s is what drew me to them, and then the $799 price tag shocked me...then I realized it was a studio. I didn't get around to plugging it in, since I'm not really interested in buying one myself, but I definitely think they're a cool guitar, the price is just a nice bonus.

Don't get me wrong I love bound guitars and think it would look far better bound, but I think it would be a mistake getting one bound as it's a limited run guitar and its a no brainer that collectors are going to pay good moneys for them in the future.I don't know how long you'll keep hold of it but I imagine if/when you go to sell it, it wouldn't go for as much as what it could have done had it been left stock.

something about this thread made me start playing my Harmony Les Paul clone again after it having pretty much sat unused since 2006
and i've got to say, i love it more and more, these studio LPs are phenomenal, i tried one out today, good guitars for the price, and i'd have no issues attempting to add some binding to it myself for aesthetics..

Mercenary bastard-whores Gibson has become, I'm sure it'll become a standard item (albeit with a different name, perhaps) if they take off. They do look smart, I have to admit. Somebody buy one and give us a report/review ASAP please!

They're LP Studios, they've never had binding.

The first Les Pauls (early 1952) didn't have neck binding either.
