Hi there, I'm new. This is my new '66 Big Block Jaguar!

Hey Jack,
Looks like you got a very nice Jag' there.
I'm also looking at pulling the trigger on 66 RI big-block... I've read really good things about the necks on these models, but what's holding me back at the moment is what I've read about the pickups. Are they really that bad compared?
Can anybody put some context around the 66 RI vs the CIJ and maybe even the original 66 Jag'?
Thank you,
Mike

you're probably not going to get any response from GreenKnee, haven't seen him around since this thread.
66RI's are CIJ, so i'm not sure what you're asking in the latter part.
CIJ 66RI vs CIJ BB? i'm sure they're the same pups; you either love 'em or hate 'em. i love them.

I picked one of these guys up in January for about half the price! I have no idea why Long and McQuade had them on sale so low, but, hey, it made me happy ($850ish, tax in).
Personally, I'm loving it, even with the stock pickups; the bridge is a bit thin, but I've grown to like it, and the neck is just fine for me. It's very different sounding than my other guitars and its brightness (without being ear splitting like my Tele bridge) let's me get tones I have tried to get for years!
Excellent buy, and I hope you're loving yours as much as I'm loving mine

Re: Hi there, I'm new. This is my new '66 Big Block Jaguar!
I have the seriously limited version of this that came out first, it's my number 1 guitar, also blocks and binding but I put avri pups and an avri trem in itGreenKnee wrote:Hi I'm new, found this place while looking for info on my new guitar, a Japanese Fender 1966 Reissue Big Block Jaguar.
Cant find much online about this guitar anywhere.
Found it online, apparently its one of fifty that are being released into Europe. I've never seen one like it in person, with the block inlays and the binding, only on tv! I love how it was setup, I usually play with 11s, but it came with stock 9s on. I was thinking of changing gauge and getting it setup, but why, when it plays so well as it is?
Anyway, here's a picture!! Sorry about the bad quality, I dont have a decent camera.
My name's Jack by the way :p
