That's a copy for sure. He even states it's a copy.

no, the auction states he's been told it was a copy, but he has no idea.

peter is simply asking if it is or isn't. it clearly is.

It's a copy but probably worth at least the starting price.

I think the auction is pretty clearly saying it's a copy, it even tries to guess the brand.

If you think the guy's trying to pass it off as real, i don't know what listing your reading. It's clearly a copy.

Yeah I agree....especially since he obviously knows enough not to say Rickenbacker.

I'm pretty sure that those Indie copies usually go for around £300, possibly even more.

The thing is, the only thing give-away Indie (or Korean-factory standard) about the thing is the tailpiece. Everything else seems cheap/out of place: Body shape, lack of binding on cats-eye and neck, etc.

I bought my friend an Indie IRK5 last year and the only thing I disliked about it was that the pickups were a bit too hot to chime, curiously reminding me of the Epi 335s I've played...Not a bad sound at all, just not the stuff of Rics by any stretch. Everything else looked and felt great, and nonetheless would recommend in a heartbeat if one needed some fat tonez.

ICEY bomb, in case you guys missed it last time:

The presence of "auction" in that sentence signifies he's been assured it was a copy, but isn't sure if some still might fall for it or not.

meh, it took me several times to re-read that before i actually understood your implication.

i guess so. i think it's fair to assume that he has no fucking clue what it is, hence the low starting price. there are people who have guitars, but have no earthly idea what it is/worth/etc, and this guy could or could not be trying to rip someone off. anyone who's going to pay serious jack for a guitar that looks like a rickenbacker, but hasn't touched it or had it verified to be authentic, should have probably done so first.

the presence of 'i've been told it is an indie copy' in the auction pretty much clears him of any mal-intent in ebay's eyes.

Looks kinda like a Dillion . $300USD ? Rickenfakers are okay I guess as long as they don't try TOO hard to be a Rickenbacker .

That's a pretty good deal. I mean even if the pickups aren't great you can replace them and it's not like you can get any closer to Rickenbacker without spending a ridiculous amount of money.
