Frickin' awesome! I also got it. Works like a charm!

EDIT - I do reviews of my apps on my messageboard, here's what I just wrote up on Polytune...

Polytune
Cost: $9.99 (Free for first 25,000 downloads)
My Rating: 4.5/5 (initial rating)

TC Electronics is a guitar effects company that builds various pedals for guitar players, including a couple tuning pedals. Recently, they released a new tuning pedal, the Polytune, that can track the tuning of all 6 strings on a guitar simultaneously, allowing you to quickly identify and correct out of tune strings. Somehow, they've brought this new technology to the iPhone too!

Working for guitar and bass, Polytune (TC Electronic website) offers the new polychromatic tuning for your instrument, as well as single string tuning modes, including a classic needle display and virtual strobe. I haven't had a tonne of experience playing with it yet, I just rushed to be one of the people to get it for free before the price hits $10 and gave it a quick test as I was running out the door. I gave a strum on my Epiphone FT-140 and it quickly showed me that all but the G string were ever so slightly sharp. I began tuning 1 string at a time to get them all where they should be and the app tracked changes super quick, much quicker than the TuneORama app.

I'll play with it more and see if my opinion changes. Right now, though, this thing is looking sweet. Only downfall I see versus some other tuner apps is that it is limited to guitar and bass, so far, but it has just been released; wider functionality may come in later.

This thing is really slick.

I had the Esquink out (and unplugged), so I strummed it and had the thing tuned up in five strums, the same with the Jazzmaster, which the app effortlessly tracked in "detune to Db" mode. Although not a favorable real-world situation to test something, it showed me that it's brilliantly responsive and accurate, even when the source signal is unplugged and quiet.

Yeah, since writing that I've tuned up my Godin Exit 22 unplugged quite quickly and accurately. This thing is great.

I tried this on my wife's 3g iPhone and it works great! My First Gen iPhone still doesn't work. Another friend with a First gen iPHone had the same problem. I guess I need to upgrade to iPhone 4.

When I'm at home I always use this to tune both my bass and guitar now. It's quicker than plugging into my regular tuner.

An Android version would be much appreciated. It seems iPhone still gets all the most awesome apps.
