Fuzz Factory clone. Musikding

Muskding has this fuzzfactory clone kit. how is it compared to the zvex? anyone tried it?

I can't say I've used one, but the fact the sample pedal is called DIE FACTORY (German for 'The Factory', I presume) is reason enough to check one out.

It's a fuzz face with pots instead of a few of the resistors. Should be well simple to build.

Oh I might have a go at that

I already have an enclosure and stuff hanging around from my first failed pedal build so this would be quite cool. Although I still need to buy a clamp to hold my enclosure whilst I drill it

After the new guitar me thinks

it's a german company so the quality must be good. i have a voltmeter from the 40s wich still works.

I got a luger from the 40s, still werks.

Seriously, Musikding are good for the novice pedalbuilder, cos everything is in one place and you'll get the right components for pedal construction. However all the parts are far eastern, so the german quality argument doesn't apply here, not that these components aren't great anyway. However, all their parts can be bought cheaper elsewhere, and shipping is sometimes a bit slow.

thought about that too, but i'll give them the extra money for making it simple. but for later builds, where can i buy cheaper parts? the components for the last pedal were bought at banzaimusic, and they cost just as much as in musikding.

There's a few threads on pedal parts suppliers around. Lord knows how good the search function on this site is- I never use it!

My badhulio. I think I've found the cheapest suppliers for this junk in the UK- Rapid and Farnell. Please correct me if this is wrong.
For reference, I've put the price I pay for pro finishing in too. Price of single items is more than qty discount, but not that much more.

Cost per unit Qty for this price

Enclosure, Rapid 2.35 100
Painting, DB Partners 5.87 100
Neutrik jack mono, Farnell 0.39 25-49
Neutrik jack stereo, Farnell 0.58 25-49
DC jack, Rapid 0.49 50
Battery clip, Rapid 0.29 50
DPDT alpha footswitch, Rapid 1.04 50

Total: Â£11.01 per unit before pots + boards

Pots: Futurlec from the USA - these are split shaft alpha. For solid shaft Small Bear seem best. If you want 3pdt for true bypass Pedal Parts Plus are cheapest.

Shipping very expensive and only justified by bulk orders.

For just 1 or 2 3PDTs go to hotrox.

D'oh! Already sent for it, damned by my own impatience. Thanks though, that's cool of you. If nobody else takes you up on it and I feel like adding even more true bypass loops to my board (not entirely unlikely) then I'll probably go for it at a later date.
