NAD! Filmosound 5E3 Build

Post by lank81 »

This week I traded my AC30 CC1 for a sweet filmosound chassis 5E3 based amp and lopoline 1x12 (loaded with an Eminence Swamp Thang). I've been thinking about jumping on a 5E3 for a while and thought this was a really neat build. This is done by Anthony (At Mars Amplification) and has some neat little touches (Standby, Half Wattage (7), 8ohm or 16ohms, Lean/Fat switch, and it comes with old stock tubes). This definitely works a lot different than most amps I've had thus far. It sounds full and warm. It's very pick sensitive and you can really clean it up just with touch and the volume knob. At Full Blast it's Neil Young in many ways. The amp compresses it self and it's mean but articulate. Also, my pedal board sounds 2 or 3 times better and louder (not sure why the loudness). I've been searching for that special OD, well, I have it ... my amp. Clean Boost check, Fuzz Check, Delay & Verb Check ... Happy Check. I'll let you know more about it as I put through its paces this weekend when the ladies aren't sleeping. Here are some pics of the amp / cab for everyone to enjoy. The only thing I'm thinking of replacing is the speaker. Thinking of putting a Weber 12A125A (30 watter) in the cab. Not sold on the Eminence stuff but haven't played with it enough.

Yea,
I contacted him and told him I was getting it in a trade. He said it's the only white one he has ever been asked to make. He also gave me the schpill as to what was all done for it (the extras) and was super nice. Definitely happy. Cool tones.
