i will give you a specific example of how FUCKING LAME these people are. i went over there and it took me exactly 30 seconds to pick a thread with something in it that pissed me off.
there is a thread where they are trying to compile the end all list of offset guitars and around the 4th or 5th post in the tread some fucking assface named "theworkoffire" posts this:
many things in this post piss me off but lets start with the MSRP of a brand new mustang, jaguar, and jazzmaster right now if i went to the store and bought one.
a mustang is $1,199.99 MSRP
a cp jaguar is 1099.99 MSRP
a cp jaguar HH is 1099.99 MSRP
a se jaguar HH is 1099.99 MSRP
a cp jazzmaster is 1099.99 MSRP
dudes on offset are all fucking stuck back in 19fucking67 where these guitars are built for adults or kids. why would the fucking kid guitar cost more than the adult guitar if it were for kids? its not because its not. it was i guess 40 fucking years ago asshole.

I mentioned something about this " list " . It seems that a lot of the guys over there think it's bullshit but find no need to say anything since it's not worth the spit . That's just a few of them that need an " Offset Guitar Charter " . That's kinda why I hate purists . I wouldn't label the whole group to that .
And by the way : Where the fuck are you shopping for guitars to get those MSRPs ? A shop or mega store would have to be crazy to sell MSRP . Mustangs generally go for around $800 new which to me is still kinda hugh for what they are. Jag ? ? Between 600-700$ . Jazzmasters tend to hit $900 and up depending on the model . However sometimes you can strike a deal but speaking for myself I haven't really seen many JMs new or used out there lately .
As for me I like to buy used anyway . I've had more problems with new guitars than used ones .

You haven't seen any of what I'm talking about because you can't see in what was my private inbox, and can't go back in time to the start of the forum to do so. Congratulations on the 6,000 posts, though.dug wrote:I've got 6000 post at Osg.
I've never seem any of this crap you guys are talking about. The only dudes I've ever seen banned were complete douchebuckets.

i used MSRP from the fender website because its fender that designs the guitars and dubs them student models or puts amber switch tips on them if they choose. i understand what retail or street is trust me. more than you would ever in your life care to want to know or experience retail.Rox wrote:I mentioned something about this " list " . i used factory price to prove my point that the "student model" costs more than the "adult version" or whatever the fuck classic model means

I really don't see a problem identifying the student models from the 60s as such. I always liked the term. It doesn't make it a "kid guitar" it makes it a student guitar. Obviously they're implying youth with the scaled-down dimensions, but you can learn the guitar at any age and benefit from tighter spaced frets.
The Jag-Stang isn't a student model because it's uncomfortable.

Just for the record, I was totally serious about the offsetguitars.com reference. Interesting replies, and though modding one up to a $600 guitar (if really deemed necessary)may not suit one's fancy, it's not a far cry from the upgrades required to make the P90'd Emily the Strange G310 in our quiver decently cool($400 total spent).
Then again, I believe we're now easily into used CIJ offset territory with that many bones.
