is the pickguard cardboard? it looks like if you colored on cardboard with a marker, and kept coloring until it flaked off and you had to color that second layer to get it to match, but it doesn't really match.

looks like fun, but also looks like crap. let us know how it is!

Frak! After wrestling for weeks with this decision whether to change the original soviet 5-pin jack to standard 1/4"( I am so anl about changing stuff from original specs)

Finally I had to ask myself WWJD?

What would Jemaine do?

Image

The answer was simple of course ,he would put a 1/4" jack in.That is what he did to his bass, what else could he do?

So I made my decision and told my luthier friend Ted "Just do it!"

Then yesterday I saw this on ebay a soviet era 5-pin to 1/4" adapter for $20 Frak!Frak!Frak! (Link)

I saw one of these at Atomic music in Maryland a couple weeks ago when my girlfriend and I were visiting her family. It was in bad shape and they paid too much for it and the guy couldn't sell it for any less than $190, so I passed on it. The input on it had been converted to a normal 1/4 inch jack.

Thanks for the posts! cur is correct this bass is more trouble than it is worth but in for a penny in for a pound.Ted called me today to say that it would actually need alot of routing to put a new jack in so I told him to leave the original in.I ordered the adapter from Ukraine.

I'm not going to change the knobs because they are original and kinda cool
besides I spent too much already.

Image

Kept the original 5-pin din jack so I can't play it till I get the adaptor

Is their anywhere in the USA where I can get a 5-pin DIN adaptor or a connector so that I can make a cable? The adaptor I bought on ebay may take a month or more to get here.

Nevermind,I found it.
