Motorcrashes - New studio recordings

Post by laterallateral »

So the recordings that came out of the session described here:

This is the setup I used in the studio, two weeks ago.
It goes CP Jazzmaster> Boss TU-2> Vox V847A Wah> '86 Rat> Sovtek Muff> Boss FRV-1> Jumpered input 1977 Traynor YBA-1> Closed Back 2X12 with one Celestion Sidewinder (mic'd) and one Electro Voice EVM12L.

We recorded this "off the floor", in a huge concert hall, hence the separators.

Here's a look at The Duke's stuff:

I believe that's: 90's Dano U2> Boss TU-2> Malekko Ekko 616 delay> EHX LPB-1> Blackout Effectors Twosome> 90's Rat> ElectroDrone Dirty Bird> 1972 Fender Super Reverb. Sounded awesome, ecept for the Dirty Bird which is shite.

Check out the HUUUUUUGE Resonator bass drum, yo!

I couldn't get a photo of Awesome Bassist's rig because she was busy fiddling with shit with the engineer.

About half the tracks we did in this session had to be scrapped because the quality of the room was so different from anything either of us were used to, we couldn't keep up with eachother...

This would give you an impression of scale:

...Are done-ish.

I am posting a DL link which will require a redemption code.
I'm doing this because there's still some little bits that need to be addressed, namely, the level on the vocal mix.
The title and artwork is for references only and is likely to change by the time the record gets pressed. We basically don't want to go too public with this draft but I'm interested in whatever feedback you guys might have, hence the redeem code.

PM me and I'll shift one down to you.

Motorcrashes - Decorous Philistines EP

Thanks. :)

After the first 45 secs of the first track I think the recording sounds great.

Excellent- dig the music, dig the recording, plus it's dead cool thinking about the band playing it in the big, echoey hall.

Wow, thanks, bro!
If you ever do make it up here, do consider yourself room, board and beered.
We don't have any immediate touring plans because seeing as we're a Pan-Canadian band, everybody's going back home trips are overlapping, so we're essentially out of commish for the summer but who knows, maybe we'll be popping by Kansas in the not so distant future...

Doh!
I somehow remember you living in Kansas City.
Didn't you? Maybe I'm making this up. Maybe I should have looked at your location.

Anyway, what I said + where you actually are. :)

ha, yeah, i do live in kansas city. i was just making a joke. it's not really that funny if you don't live around here.

kansas city (the semi-famous one) is actually in missouri, but there is a kansas city, kansas, as well. smaller, less semi-famous. gah, forget it. if you ever tour, it's on my list.
