Equalizer pedals

Post by andershp »

Hi

I've been looking at a few equalizer pedal, but I can't really decide which is better (compared to the price).
I'm currently looking at the MXR 10-Band EQ, MXR 6-Band EQ and the Boss GE-7
If anyone have suggestions about other equalizers or recommendations, I would appreciate it too.

for the price, i'd snag a danophobic tuna melt, bruh.

i got mine for $17 used and it's got a wicked nice boost (which is primarily what i use it for).

if you have to have a swanky metal designer eq, i'd probably go with the boss. the mxr's i've used are just not worth the extra scratch (to me).

I've always wanted a Graphic Fuzz from EHX. You can switch the Fuzz out, making it a regular (true bypass) GEQ.

I've got a sniper-modded GE-7, which is awesome and way better than the stock GE-7. BUT, I have a Boss PQ-4 Parametric Equalizer that I like way better than the graphic one.

i've got a lovely plastic rocktek EQ which seems very similar to the GE-7. i found it in a garage and it cost me fuck-all. worth every non penny.

edit: a bit like this but with a blue top bit and no big name description.

Except, of course, that that's a trem pedal. But assuming you mean the Fish & Chips EQ, then that's commonly held as the best bang-for-buck EQ available.

These, on the other hand, are meant to be fucking dire.

Really? I'd heard that they weren't entirely bad, just a bit.. odd.

Fish and Chips is the same circuit as a sniper-mod GE-7.

If you think it's something you'll use a lot, go for a metal one like the MXR.

i was a bit drunk last night and obviously lost my ability to count.

What is that and did you do the mod yourself then?

I've never tried any of the EHX pedals, but they seem really cool. It costs about the same as the MXR 10-band, but it only has 6 band. Do you loose a lot of possibilities by only having 6 band in comparison to a 10-band EQ? However the fuzz and the envelope functions seem pretty cool too. :)

I don't know if it's swanky :D, but yes I do like metal cases for pedals and I like to buy pedals that are high(er) quality that last longer, rather than buying twice the amount just in plastic.
