mustang project

Post by dug »

Totally inspired by Bilinda Butcher's custom stangs.

I've been gathering parts for a 25.5 scale mustang build.
The body was built by Andrewdoeshair (osg member), and it rocks. He also made me the pickguard for it.

I'm getting ready to put a finish on the body, but I haven't decided what color scheme, I'm hoping y'all can help me decide.

I've not decided exactly what control scheme I'm going to use.
I may get another guard made with the slider switches so I can do the outta phase mustang stuff with the jazzy pups.

I'm still collecting parts, all I need is the trem and the control plate.

Correct answer: fishnets. What were we talking about. I like that Lexan guard.

is that how you're going to situate that bridge / bridge pickup? that bridge pickup is like a mile away from the bridge.

Yes. I think it'll be alright.

Dood that built the body for me has a similar build and it sounds fine.

I think the pickguard makes it look farther away, because its got the regular cutout.

is it me or is the bridge off-center?

i also don't think jazzmaster pickups look good in anything except a jazzmaster.

i thought at first that the pickguard was clear with newspaper adhered to the back. that would look pretty sweet i think.

Agreed... I'd also say they're my least favourite thing about Jazzmasters.

I actually have this thing painted. Just need to do some more sanding, and a clear coat.
Pics soon.

I decided not to go for the jazzmaster pickups, I might go for actual mustang pups.
All I need to do now is order the pickguard material and decide what pickups I want to put in it.
I've got a control plate on the way, and have some left over electronics I'm going to use.

Looks like you did a good job on the refin, congrats.

I'd still say stick with the JM p'ups - give it a unique edge.
