I spotted an ad for an amp trade on my local gumtree. Some guy wants rid of his HT-5 Head and Marshall 12" cab for a bigger amp. I've got a Peavey Valveking 112 which I didn't pay very much for and wouldn't mind flipping.
He says he wants a bigger amp, I'm guessing the peavey has a little more to give than the Blackstar. I've tried the HT-5 out a year or so back and really liked it, and I'm not currently gigging so anything bigger than a practice amp is somewhat like overkill.
Anybody own one of these? I'd like to know how well it takes pedals and stuff.
So what do you think? Do it?
Peavey Valveking for Blackstar HT-5 Trade

Really? I can't stand them. I had to play a gig through a 112 and it sounded so incredibly bad. May have been the amp, but if you tried to play anything of the lowest strings it just had the worst low end.mrperson wrote:I'd do it but be hesitant because I really like Peavey Valvekings. The HT5 is meant to sound really good though.
Anyway, I'd say go for it if he's game.
Exactly my thoughts. It's nearly unusable in that respect. Shit amp.willlin wrote:I've always had an issue with the low end on it, sounds really flabby, particularly with fuzz and stuff.
If the guy gets back to me I'm gonna go for it. He emailed me and said his amp was '"sick for most styles of music" which has put me off more than a little...
