I use the Zoom H2 as USB mic. Sounds alright, can be hard to get close micing right.

I borrowed a Samson C01U off MikeG for a while- pretty decent although I could never get its software to work, so had to tweak everything within Windows sound management.

I used the USB mic from Guitar Hero to record my sound clips when I was looking for clean boost suggestions. Seemed to work ok.

Guitar Hero USB mic is what i've been using, sounds alright but you can't get too loud.

Mine does that too, usually 20 minutes quiet time and its fighting fit again. Derned machines.

It's nice to be able to just plug and play with the mic. I haven't used the Samson software for a while.
I'd probably just buy a standard one in future, though.

The blue icicle will let you convert any XLR to USB. Everything I've recorded with it sounds pretty nice.
