mine really was. i got to the point where i really liked the feel of the satin finished neck. it wast he first electric i ever got and didn't mod at all until the last few months that i owned it. . . and even then i just added push/pulls so i could split the coils. fun, fun to play, and it gigged incredibly well. never a lick of trouble, stayed in tune/intonated great.

Needs a pickguard so bad...
Agreed. It's ugly.

Actually that silver line on side and knobs looks nice.
But it's still ugly.

Dude, whoever sits down and determines pricing for Fender Custom Shop should really consider putting down the crack pipe. Seriously, a Toro with Filtertrons? 5 Gs???!!!

I know. I spent quite a while sitting around and trying to figure out exactly what you are paying for that would make it cost that much...

now if they gave that a gretsch style pickguard and an f-hole it would be quite cool. like a toro-double-anniversary (which I imagine is what they were trying to do, but they didn't really go far enough).

for starters, that neck is a one-off type thing. 24.75, vintage truss rod access. the neck was built for that guitar. they don't use it for anything else, and as far as i know, they're the only 24.75 length guitars they made.

second, it's all custom built. don't get me wrong, it doesn't warrant that kind of price, but i betcha that's what they're building into the price/value.

only thing i'd change is put the output jack on top, WRHBs, and a one off hardtail jag tailpiece with t.o.m.

and a strat hardtail bridge on a bodaciously different fender, really?

only one remaining question: does it have at least a rib contour?

The Strat styled hard tail bridge on that is LAME, IMO. They could have at least used the Toro bridge (which to me looks better). Several grand for that guitar is just dumb, I'm sure they'll sell since they are Custom Shop and Rare. I wonder if they'll be in anything but white?

I might actually get to pay off the Toro this week or next since we finally got some overtime at work. After I do, I'll be tempted to do some wiring mods, but we'll have to seen. The Boss is still a bit pissy about this purchase, might have to lay low till things cool down  .
