Tonerider Pickups
Has anyone any views on the Tonerider pickup brand??? Looking at a set of their Rebel P90 humbucker sized things. I was looking into a set of Bare Knuckles but a set of Toneriders will save me £150. Seem to be rated by people who have got them.
Don't look at me I'm irrelevant!
I was about to point you in the direction of Cat's Whisker Pickups when I saw the prices of those Toneriders. Veeeeeeeeery interesting...

I did put the Tonerider Classic Tele Set (or whatever it's called) into my Parts-Tele. The origin of those is China (rumours say the same factory that makes the Squier CV pickups). Craftmanship is better than I expected for pickups at this price point. It's all flawless and it's vintage correct materials. The bobbins look like waxed paper, and they age really quickly (I used tham for alf a year now?)
The character of the exact set I have is more on the dark, raunchy side, more bottom, frequency range and less icepicking than the Fender pickups I heard in the same 2 Teles. I don't know if the guitar would sound better with some boutique handwound super duper stuff, but I'm satisfied with what I have.

OK, Rebel P90s now installed in my Epi SG. Sounds fab. Well worth doing, glad I got round to it. Great sounding pups, loads of chime, very rich, warm and slightly dark in texture. Very impressed for the money. Paid £29 each, can't go wrong! Suit the guitar loads more then the Epi Alnico V humbuckers I took out. The guitar feels much more touch sensitive and responsive to play. If the rest of their stuff are as good as the Rebel P90s, I reckon Tonerider kit is a steal at the price.

i heard a lot of similar reviews about the toneriders and considered them for my epiphone as well. They are supposed to be good value for money upgrades for epi's and squires, but I also heard that the CV squire pickups are made at the same place in chinaRayjaysonic wrote:OK, Rebel P90s now installed in my Epi SG.
