cab/amp questions.

Post by Progrockabuse »

hey all. hopefully, i should be getting a 2x12 cab via the wonderful james at progfest. meaning i can finally think about getting an amp head or run my tweed through another cab.

at the moment, i was thinking of finally plumping for a marshall vintage modern head like i've always wanted. the problem is the cab is 4 ohms and the marshall can only run at 16 or 8 ohms. the cab has two 8 ohm celestions wired for 4 ohms. could i re wire the cab to be 8 ohms or would i have to get different speakers or choose a different amp. ideas?

Just so you know what's what, it's a 2x10.

If you wire them in series, won't it give 16 ohms?

Really?

Questions about cabs get asked at least once a month on here. At least once a month I answer such a question, and at least once a month someone has to come in and point the op right, because I've got it wrong.

I've finally got it right. I'm a big boy now!

lol I'd got confused and thought it was a 2x12.

So wiring in series will mean all systems go?
What kinda sound would i be getting from 10" drivers? Less bass?
