Riviera or Casino?

Post by kingoftherodeo »

I'm new to the forum and having a bit of a dilema...

I currently play an Epiphone Dot, but I want someting a little better. I've been looking at either a Riviera or Casino, but don't know which one to go for. I like hollow bodied guitars, so it's either one of these two I will be going for. But which I'm not sure.

Any opinion is greatly appreciated!

Go for a Casino - there are more of them about, so they're a shade cheaper, they're fully hollow, so feedback roffles aplenty, and they sound amazing. I'll have one one day.

Casino cause their necks are so narrow and comfy.

Epiphone moved production to China in '07, they were Korean before that though.

I had a Korean one, and it was quite nice. I've played the newer ones made in China at my local guitar store, and don't like it quite as much.

I made a similar question some time ago.. it was a Casino or Gretsch Electromatic.. I got an Casino, and really love it.
Very nice neck, action was fine out of the box.. lately I have had some problems with the bridge (string breakage) but should be able to fix it - no probs, with a file.

really love its P90's

So it's not worth changing the pick up's for Gibson copies?

Also would a VOX AC30 amplifier complement the sound of a Casino?

ac30 would most likely sound awesome with a casino....

and yes the stock pickups are definitely good enough. sort of like a rickenbacker hi-gain only more midrangey
