New pickups for Epiphone Dot

What pic ups would be worth buying for an Epiphone Dot?

The store pick ups did a job for me, but I think they have run their course now.

I'm thinking P90's?

Any advice will help.

Depends what you're willing to spend on them? It would help in people giving you some recommendations.

I wouldn't do p90's if i were you, the noise will be pretty extreme. Try putting in some dimarzios, they're top notch.

IDK - casino's always sound pretty good (granted they're full hollow too). I'd have no reservation putting some nice p90s in there.

I've been told before P90's are good pick ups and would sound nice through my Dot.

Nick Valensi of The Strokes has had P90s in his Rivieras throughout the band's career and he has a great sound. No noise issue I've ever heard having seen them live. A fully hollow model like a Casino might be a different story.

As you've not stated a limit (I assume within reason), I am a great advocate of Bare Knuckle pickups.
Depending on what kind of output you want and sound you are looking for, I have seen people but Mississippi Queens in there (P90s) or Stormy Mondays (HBs) with great results.

if yr intention is high gain loud live playing you might be in store for some major feedback issues with the hollow body. My old Epi Sheraton had PAFs from a Â£3000 LP Gold Top. Sounded mint at low volume but in the practice room at ROCK volume it was practicly unmanageable. Not sure if lower output pups would make a diffrence (I suspect volume ebing the key) but worth considering

If you are on a budget i'd consider them Artec P90's (humbucker size). I put some in the BCR Mock and they sing!

i put a GFS dream90 (neck) and a gibson dirty fingers (bridge) in mine and i love it to bits.

i'll second the notion that it's a pain in the ass. i wish i'd saved and bought an es-333 (for the rear access panel).

PRO TIP: before you take the pots out, but after you take the nuts off of the pots, tie a piece of thread or string around the shaft, and tape it to the edge of the guitar - but make sure to leave enough slack so you can pull the pot through the humbucker hole. the point? so when you get the pots soldered up, you can just untape the string, and pull it back through to the right hole. i did the same thing with the output jack, and it worked a charm. i dunno what the fuck i would've done without this step.

More of a bluesy sort of crunch if you know what I mean.... I can only really compare the sound I'm after to a sort of Lou Reed meets Rolling Stones..... That make sense?

Bluesbucker, a '59 style PAF, or maybe a Burstbucker comes to mind as well.

The bridge PUP in the Dots is a little weak for rock, but the general sound quality is probably about right. Your probably just after something that's a little higher wound that will push a bit more.

A P90 might give you more openness and attack (definitely a sound I associate with Lou Reed), but I think you could get to the same place via your amp.
