Anyone know where I can get some white button Kluson tuners?

The original shortscale guitars; Mustangs, Duo-Sonics, Musicmasters, Jaguars, Broncos, Jag-stang, Jagmaster, Super-Sonic, Cyclone, and Toronados.

Post by Phil O'Keefe »

If so, please tell me where. I can't seem to find them at any dealers online. :(

PS They don't have to be actual "Klusons"; they can be Pings or whatever - just as long as they'll drop right into a MIJ Mustang neck. Oh, and I'm NOT looking for "F style" tuners...

Looks like at least two other forum members have already called dibs on those - but thanks for the link. I did post and indicated I was interested if they bow out...

But I'd really like to just go online and buy a set. Does anyone know the Fender part number for those things? Again, not the F tuners with the white buttons - the "Kluson style" ones, with .234" shafts...

I've got Pings on it now - with .235" / 6mm shafts. I'd rather not have to pull the bushings, ream out the holes, etc.

Do you still think they'll fit without any modifications?

Thanks Rob!

Thanks Dan!

Those apparently are the correct size. I've also found them for about $20 less than that ($40 vs $60) on Ebay from a dealer in Florida called Anthill Music.

The question is - how do they compare to the Gotoh tuners Rob mentioned? I can't find any reviews of that model Kluson online.

OK, so what I wound up ordering was a pair of Kluson SD9105MNP. According to what I could find out, they have 6mm posts (the same as stock Ping tuners) and should fit. We'll see. I got them via ebay from a dealer called Ant Hill Music for $39.95:

http://cgi.ebay.com/KLUSON-SD9105MNP-NI ... 563d44f2ed

I was hesitant to try the Gotohs, mainly because I recently purchased a pair of (non-returnable  ) white button SD91 Gotohs from ebay that were listed as "Strat Tele Mustang"; the only thing is, the shafts are .250" (1/4") in diameter, so they don't work with my existing bushings, and I'd have to drill out my headstock to use their (included) bushings. I didn't feel like drilling. Since I couldn't get any of the dealers to get back to me with confirmation of the shaft diameters on the ones Rob recommended, I went with something that I felt would fit. We'll know for sure if they will or not in a week or so when they arrive. I'll report back when they do.

Also, for future reference for anyone looking for white button tuners, here's a few links you may find useful:

First, a couple of additional sources for the Gotohs that Rob recommended:

Allparts has them for $50.

http://www.allparts.com/Gotoh-6-in-line ... 80-001.htm

Guitar Parts Resource has them for $39.79 (third row down - part #TK-0980-001).

http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/tune ... egotoh.htm

And Guitar Parts Site has them for $32.99

http://www.guitarpartssite.com/Gotoh-TK ... 001-ap.htm

Hope that's helpful for someone somewhere down the line. Cheers. :)
