I found a website that makes Fender decals. There are two Telecaster decals and a lone Fender Logo in the spaghetti style.

To get the authentic Baja telecaster look, I would have to buy the Fender Spaghetti Logo and then buy one of the Telecaster decals and cutoff the "Telecaster" word to use with the Spaghetti Fender Logo.

You are awesome! That's great! Thanks.cooterfinger wrote:Looks good. I might have one of the spaghetti Fender tele decals if that's what your looking for. I'll check after work. If I have one I'll mail it to you.

You are truly awesome for that. One of the things I love about Shortscale is people willing to help each other out.cooterfinger wrote:Mailed out the decal this morning.
Is it a normal decal or is it a waterslide that I have to soak in water first before applying?
I will probably get it while I am painting the body so I can apply and clearcoat it while the body is drying. Then I can install all the hardware and it will be done when the body is done.

I just sprayed the second coat of Sand & Sealer tonight. The humidity needs to drop before I can start painting. I hope to apply the other 2 coats of Sand & Sealer tomorrow.

I cleaned up the tele pickguard with go-gone to remove the sticky film and have noticed the outline of the Baja tele sticker is very obvious. The previous owner left the sticker on and now it has a "tan" line.
Should I just buy a new pickguard or simply wait for the lighter area to fade away over time?

It's a waterslide decal. I always hit it with a couple of very light mist coats of clear lacquer to seal the decal before I apply it. That way the decal doesn't get any flakes or smears.taylornutt wrote:Is it a normal decal or is it a waterslide that I have to soak in water first before applying?cooterfinger wrote:Mailed out the decal this morning.

After several days of oil grain filler and Sand & Sealer, I put the first 2 coats of Daphne Blue on the body. What a sexy color! I am doing light coats to start because I want some of the grain to show through. The tricky part for me is knowing when to stop because I don't want to over paint and make the grain disappear. I might do one more coat before bed tonight since the weather and conditions are good.

Thanks. The finest sandpaper I had was 320, and it was too abrasive. I picked up some 800 this morning and will see if I can find some 1500. I just need to smooth out the rough spots and touch up 2 spots and I will be ready for clear. I would rather take my time than have to redo this process again later.Haze wrote:it should be smooth smooth smooth. Take something like 800 grit with a sanding block and work your way up to 1500 wetsanding. Be Very careful not to sand through or you'll be in a world of hurt trying to touch it up. The Reranch forums are great for asking questions about your first finish.
