I've never been that big a fan of 10cc but this is a fascinating video about how they created the vocal pads for "I'm Not In Love" by essentially using the entire studio as a kind of huge DIY Mellotron.

Very interesting! That really puts modern experimental recording techniques in perspective; I won't ever hear that song the same again.

The accompanying stills in the video are also hilariously integrated.

Strawberry Studios which I assume is where this was recorded is literally just down the road from me here in Stockport...
10cc owned it in the 1970s, and loads of local bands like Joy Division, The Smiths and Stone Roses recorded there... altho it's just an empty building now...
