Replacement Mustang neck

Post by Tom356 »

I was looking at getting a mustang neck off warmoth for my 69RI and was wondering if anyone had any experience of buying from them? I was mainly thinking about the shipping time/costs and how good the necks are themselves
Cheers

They are $157 but since I live in the uk shipping will make that at least 200 I would have thought.
I bought one for £300 late last year which I thought was a fair price, But I am looking at a maple neck off warmoth to change with the rosewood one on the 69RI

Hey Tom, fellow Notts man! :D
Mike bought a Warmoth Mustang neck that i later owned and he was'nt impressed. They took a long time to get it to him and i think it cost him around £160 in the end. It was a nice neck though.
I recently built another Jag-Stang (that uses a Mustang neck) and watched ebay until one came up. It took some time but i scored a 1966 neck w/brass nut for £110. Well worth the wait.
Alternatively keep your eye open for vintage; Duo, Bronco or Musicmaster neck. They usually sell for less but are lovely necks that will fit a Mustang fine.

ah I doubt there are many of us on here :P
Yeah I was thinking that it will undoubtedly take along time to get here.
I was going to have a look on ebay aswell. Will most of the fender shortscales fit my reissue then? The main reason I want a swap is because I'd like a maple neck so a nice duo-sonic neck could be an option

Yeah, you need a 24" scale neck. Be careful with re-issues of the Duo though because i believe some of them are not true 24" scale, like some Jagmaster necks. Mike should be online tomorrow, he will probably give you the lowdown on Warmoth.

Do you gig round Nottingham Tom?

I played at the Maze with a Sex Pistols tribute a few years ago, done the Central with Master Charger as well. Been around a while so over the years i've played; Rescue Rooms, Narrowboat, the Angel, Rock City, Junktion 7, Salutation, etc. Dont know if some of them are still there anymore
You should post your band up dude, what kind of stuff do you play? I know a few promoters around Nottingham if you need a hand.

Ah so the main places then. How did you get to city if you don't mind me asking?
Well the band I was in have just finished but Ive started another one and when we have a few more songs will start putting them online. And to categorize it I suppose it would be sort of alternative stuff (yawn).
But yeah that would sounds really great about the promoters. When were ready to start gigging i'll let you know if thats alright would be good to know some local promoters!

Rock City was around 1995, some time ago! We just sent promo's to them and they put us on on a 'student night' which was a thursday, still got packed though.
If your Indie, Dom Gourlay is a good guy to get in with, Jez of 'Im not from London' too. You have to badger them a bit though, i tried to get one of the guys off here from Edinburgh a gig with them and got no reply. Perhaps if they know you'll bring a crowd they'd be more inclined to get you on.
