Hmmm, quite. It can't be that bad at all, I've read of a few people doing it themselves with no mention of difficulty.

The other guitarist in my band just got one of these - it's rather nice, but we've issues with the headroom as well. His Mustang 69RI (low output pickups) is the only guitar that doesn't have a nasty crunch when plugged in. We have to use the 2nd input (which is usually matched for high output pickups, right?) to get it to stay clean. And it's not a tubey, overdrive sound. It's just distortion on the input. Does anyone have any experience with this or know what can be done?

If we plug in a Les Paul, it just gives us ppfffPPPPtttt.

You could try switching around the order of the preamp valves; you might have a dodgy one that may less troublesome in the phase inverter position, while you pick up a replacement in the meantime.

DGW - Cheers for the info, all very interesting. I reckon Bugera are just scared of getting legal action against them in case some muppet fries their fingers by doing something dumb!
