Squier Bronco broken circuit

Hello Shortscale! I was fixing my Bronco (got it for £50 on ebay yay me!) today because the volume and input jack both came loose and fell into the body.
Anyway after i fixed that there was nothing coming from the bass when i started to play so looked under again and noticed that the circuit between the input jack and the volume one (green wire) had split. My question is how do i fix is this, is it a soldering job or could i get some tape to attach the two together?



You can see here ^^ the little grey bit sticking out of the green wire that's what suppose to be connected to the other wire stuff.




Also when i took it the pick guard off and had a look at the pick up these springs and some thin metal rod were attached to it.
Do any Bronco owners know what they are from/for?

looks like ground wire went loose. i'm pretty sure you need to solder it.

the springs on the pickup are supposed to be on the pickup screws, under the pickguard. i think this bass was either badly assembled or was tinkered by the previous owner, pretty bad too.

I took a Bronco bass apart for a project a while back. Squier used shielded wire for the output wire. Basically the wire's shield is what they used to ground the jack with. You dont have to resolder the wire as it was, you can run a new piece of wire to the back of the tone or volume pot to ground it again.
