Fender Blender vs. Fender Blender Custom

Post by andershp »

There seems to be a lot of different opinions about these pedals, but I can't really figure out what the exact difference is between the Fender Blender (vintage) and the Fender Blender Custom (re-issue).

What is the difference?

Experiences / opinions of both?

Thank you .. :D

I had a reissue a couple years back, volume drop & crap for chords. Not a fan.

I have a reissue and i like it - for chords too. You have to work the dials a bit (blend), but it does work. I have the tone boost always on though, as it's too bassy/muddy without it.

With the clone I had years back, the best results would come from running before an OD pedal or slightly crunchy amp and finding a good balance with the blend control.

That way, it's not that odd-sounding "fuzzy fuzz and totally clean" mixture (I'm looking at you, TUBESCREAMER), but you still get note definition for chords. Plus, it rounds off the sound a little more, less of those spiky highs.

Volume drop? As in a drop of volume when you switch on the pedal (without the boost) or how?

He means that the pedal can't get as loud as your bypassed signal.
