Ibanez RG something or other
So I swapped a beat up Ibanez RG for a pair of shinpads a few months ago. I've no idea what the model is but it looks very similar to an RG550. I'll upload pictures tonight but the paint was so ruined i've had to strip it all. Any tips on how to go about refinishing would be amazing, can I use Halfords normal car-type spray paint or will I need to go out and purchase something more suited to the job? Also engraved in biro on the fretboard it says "gigs for deaf kids" is there anything I can do to try and get rid of this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Okay so I'm officially useless, the model is not only on the body but also stamped on the neck. It is a RG250B and will hopefully look something like the Ibanez here but without the colourful knobs and pickups.

As I've said before I don't really have an idea about Ibanez at all, if I was to restore it what do you think it could be worth? Obviously not loads but then I only swapped it for a pair of shinpads so I don't expect loads. Any help would be appreciated.

lol trading shinpads for an RG. It just seems so appropriate.
Like trading a surfboard for a Jaguar.

I suppose the problem with parting it out would be the neck is maybe the most sought after thing and yet it has "gigs for deaf kids" engraved in it so that wont get me very far. I'll see what I can do, if it's not worth anything then I'll sand it all down and stick it on ebay in bits and pieces. Cheers for some info though.

After a bit more rooting around on Google I've found some discussions with regard to the RG250B, it seems to be a bit of a loose cannon. It was made in Japan in 2001-2002 in the Fujijen Factory and according to this advert for it the seller seems to think it's a $600 guitar although I don't really think it can be.

Even the Ibanez forums don't seem to have much apart from users arguing about it. I need an Ibanez expert me thinks.

Well, Chisa wanted £170 for part filled/part refin'd MIJ RG470. If you do a good job of the finish you might get somewhere around £150, which would be a good score because its a good guitar. If you did want to sell it complete as it is let me know.argylelewis wrote:After a bit more rooting around on Google I've found some discussions with regard to the RG250B, it seems to be a bit of a loose cannon.
