just looks like an affordable version of these over priced logs

Which can only be a good thing...

I missed that, as I was sort of skimming through the thread to catch up...benecol wrote:With the bridge humbucker, it's actually a more accurate SY guitar than their sigs.benecol, on page two of this very thread, wrote:This is what the Sonic Youth Jazzmasters should have been like.
comes with a free behringer delay pedal too. lolultratwin wrote:In case anyone else missed the additional poasts on HC and TDPRI: Prices that make your go HMMMM.
The "coming soon" caveat is in place, but I reckon there's a good chance we're closer to the reality of a $450 price tag.

The Mascis JM is the most visually appealing Jazzmaster for sure. Looks delicious. It's cool they have a Jazzmaster with the basswood body kinda like a Jagstang!BacchusPaul wrote:This thread has got me thinking about Jazzmasters again and making me remember that I really want the Mascis one.
You are comparing the most expensive American Jazzmaster to Purple Sparkle Japanese Jazzmaster. Honestly I like them both. I just have had a thing for sparkles since I first saw the Blue Squier Supersonics. I also love the gold pickguard. I would probably lean Costello just because its more vintage spec than the Mascis. Haze, I will take which ever one you will buy for meHaze wrote:You, sir, have just been corrected:taylornutt wrote:The Mascis JM is the most visually appealing Jazzmaster for sure.► Show Spoiler
You have been in guitar heaven lately. You just finished the Musimaster, working on a Jazzmaster and just bought a Squier CV Tele custom. Living the dream.Haze wrote:Someone on OSG has a Costello JM with a anodized gold pickguard, HOLY SEX i love that thing, perfect. MUST FINISH ME JAZZMASTA
Pretty much my stance too, except that I prefer the Mascis because it isn't vintage. I like the idea of the hotter pickups.taylornutt wrote:Honestly I like them both. I don't think so, this doesn't happen with any other fenders, the CP jazzmaster is about $800 in the USA I'm lead to believe, they ain't £800 here are they??Johno wrote:endsjustifymeans wrote:comes with a free behringer delay pedal too. lolultratwin wrote:In case anyone else missed the additional poasts on HC and TDPRI: Prices that make your go HMMMM.

$450 is about £280, but as we know uk shops don't work like that they will just swap the $ for a £
Excuse the length but this subject is something I used be entirely negative about but now have a little experience that has changed my opinion somewhat:Mustang Melx wrote:I don't think so, this doesn't happen with any other fenders, the CP jazzmaster is about $800 in the USA I'm lead to believe, they ain't £800 here are they??Johno wrote:endsjustifymeans wrote: comes with a free behringer delay pedal too. lol

The thing is, retailers of course must see what they pay to make their prices, but the 2nd step is always what they hope they can get for the guitar where they want to sell it. I didn't believe that, but just check the thomann site for a popular guitar, let's say a classic 60s Tele, the price for differs up to 15 % on their different portals for spanish, english, greek, dutch, german ... customers. All these guitars had the same wholesale price, come from the same container and are shipped from Treppendorf, Germany. Why would they be priced different?"Red wine from Chile is cheaper than red wine from France, and red wine from France is cheaper than german wine. That clearly shows that shipping costs don't matter."
No the retailer doean't pay the same as you. Without a profit margin there would be no business so it's a moot point. I DO understand wanting things as cheap as possible of course but retailers are people too ya knowkypdurron wrote:while this is a valid point, a retailer doesn't pay the same price you pay. He doesn't buy from musicians friend or so and has to add tax and shipping to this. He gets the dealer price, and he doesn't pay US tax I would believe. And they ship in large quantities. As our economics professor once said:The thing is, retailers of course must see what they pay to make their prices, but the 2nd step is always what they hope they can get for the guitar where they want to sell it.
