I finally got a new amp

Post by argylelewis »

I have been searching for a new amp for ages (basically since I joined) and I have finally found a Marshall Valvestate 8020 on Ebay that i got for £29. Is this a good deal do you think or am I going to regret it?

For £29 you can't really complain.

There's a lot of love for those valvestate series amps actually. I used to own a vs100 head a while back and really liked it.

I looked at the Line 6's they had on ebay but my wallet dictates what amp I can have and the only amp i can afford at the moment is the Valvestate. Definitely looking forward to having a half decent amp again though :)

Those older Valvestates are good amps. For that price you can't complain!

Did you get one in the end? Must admit I keep thinking about it myself for pedals.

yarp see this thread:

although it doesn't tell you any more than I got one.

I would really like to see a surge in people buying these things.. I see it as the new bassman.

:P

I just wish it didn't look quite so ugly. I will have to do a demo of it that isn't someone going straight to the high gain setting and playing metalz

Good stuff, I used to have a 8040 that was pretty damn fine, aside from the lack of clean headroom.

It may need the filter caps looking at, given its age though- the VS100R combo I picked up a few months ago is a hummy bastard, but it's not a problem at practise/gig volumes.
