HOly fucking new guitar PIX ADDED.

So I flipped some pedals and got a hell of a deal on a friend's 95 American standard tele. I'd been lusting after it for years, and dude said he never used it anymore. It's all beat up, so I don't have to worry about dropping it or anything. The bridge pickup is INSANE. Total audio violence.

neck is stamped Dec 66, neck plate denotes early 70s, so we're splitting the difference and calling it
MY 1969 CORONADO II

Well, I can't believe this happened. Last week we were on vacation in (among other places) Duluth MN. I demanded to go to the Music-Go-Round, where we saw this beautiful beast. I played it, and dug it. HARD. Well, Dear Wife and I talked about it for a while, and it seemed like we probably had just about enough money to spare. Holy Shit, Right? Anyway, we were discussing the purchase, and the kids starting FREAKING OUT, so in a huff, I announced. "LETS GO."

When we got home we finished the discussion and decided to go for it. I called them up and bought it over the phone. Luckily, my friend/co-guitarist/employee Hoffmonster was in Duluth, and brought that shit home!
I played it a bit today, it has fucking itsy bitsy flatwound strings, so it's a little tricky. But it sounds really good. the pickups remind me quite a bit of p90s. Really full. Also, seeing as it is HOLLOW that shit vibrates and feedsback instantly and GLORIOUSLY. Except with a Rat. Then it's just microphonic squeel. Ok, I admit it, Ill probably use that noise.

Also, HIpstamatic for iPhone FTW.

don't pay any attention to the neck plate, for some reason coronados all have 500,000 serials. go by what's on the neck stamp. the pickups are the older style, i think they switched to the black topped ones at some point in '67.

the bridge looks aftermarket though on closer inspection.

More telecasters and coronados, this thread is a disappointment. This is the pic I expect to see on a holey new guitar thread.

I don't think the bridge is OG. It looks like a fairly new TOM. I HAVE to get that bridge stuck down though. It slides all over the place. Hello intonation nightmare.

That's radical to know uts a legit 66 though. I like to imagine it hung out with lightrails jazzmaster before they shipped.
Also, it has a big decal from what looks like the original store, in Santa Monica. I think I've found my camera, so ican take some bigass hires shittin pics soon.

Defo looks like a 66 like mine. Has the checker board binding, the chrome d'armond pups. The later models had the black pups with chrome around them i think. Good score!

I don't care what year it is. Coronado II's are awesome. I would love one day. Nice score, Aen. I think you could right it off as a business expense. The official Dwarcraft Coronado II!

Dude, wall hangers were a nightmare. Apparentlyw e have no studs in our wall here, and the little plastic things you're supposed to drive into drywall did not work one bit. But now my living room looks all cool.

"allright kids, your duosonics are on the floor, play with them. Do not touch the wall guitars. DO NOT TOUCH THE CORONADO. THE RED ONE. ORANGE. WHATEVER, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!"

Also, really hard to get a nice pic in my dark ass house in the dark ass night.

The one thing I dislike about coronados is the weird / and \ f-holes.

I think you might like them if you turned up real loud and felt the air rushing out of them onto your arm.
