Ideas for a Bass VI

Post by Haze »

Mainly tinkering with some ideas for a six string bass/baritone guitar. Upper horn is based off of my Musicmaster, the bottom a Jaguar.

Probably a warmoth baritone neck of some sort.

I had planned to finish roughing the rough template but the blade on my hack saw flung itself outward and was too hot to pick up so I called it a night and went to the sander to do what I could.
WEAR EYE PROTECTION KIDS!

I just signed a lease for an apartment with lady haze today so things won't be moving too quickly on this [per usual with my projects]

Figure i'll sketch something nice up in photoshop tonight.

dude, that's fucking awesome.

3 jag pickups on a jazzmaster style guard would be spectacular.

I have always been curious about 3 Jaguar pickup guitars like the Bass VI and Cyclone II. What kind of Jaguar pickup goes in the middle position? Do you have to get a custom set made or do you have the middle one custom made to sit between the two other Jaguar pickups? Are the neck and Bridge just standard Jaguar pickups?

Here are a couple of pics from the Dallas Guitar Festival that you might enjoy:

pretty sure the middle is just another jaguar bridge pickup

EDIT: further details on that, I already have a bridge pickup so if i get a pair [neck+bridge] then i'll put them like so - Bridge/Neck/Bridge. That way "position 2+4" will be hum cancelling since they will be rwrp from each other

[posting this here so i dont lose it later]

more photoshopping. added added the neck and made the pickguard longer. The neck should be roughly to scale.

Thanks you two! I'll get the pickguard off to you today.

The black/gray burst is cool but I already have a silverburst in the works ( see robert(original) jazzmaster thread) and I already have a sea foam green jazz bass.

I don't have any red guitars however... That's why all the moch-ups. I like coral seeing as how it isn't technically even a fender color.

I didn't know about your Sea Foam Jazz bass. Fiesta Red rocks but of course I am biased. I like CAR over Dakota Red, but ReRanch doesn't have CAR. I am not a huge fan of Coral, but it's not my guitar. Could look nice.

Where would you have the neck made for this project?
