Duesenberg's have shit pickguards. What should I do?

Talk about all other types of guitars. Jazzmasters and basses go here!

Duesenberg's have shit pickguards. What should I do?

Post by 24HRS2MDNT »

I love the sound of my Duesenberg V-Caster (VD-Caster). It is like a P-90 powered cross between a Tele and a Strat.
Duesenberg puts a metal bar between their pickups and pickguards. I find my pick catching on them which is kind of annoying.
The pickups also sit quite high to the strings even when set in as far as they'll go.

I'm looking at making my own pickguard and was hoping some of you may be kind enough to take the time and share your thoughts, opinions, and ideas.

Here is the way they look stock. (not mine)

What about these ideas :
Like Original but in Black kind of extended over where the metal bar used to be and black, white, black. (photoshopped colour on mine and extended)

#1 or like this, following the curve off the horn:

#2 or this diamondy idea:

Thanks for checking it out. What do you think?

Edit: I renamed them Original in Black, #1, & #2 Sorry for the confusion and huge pics.

The simplicity of #1 appeals to me more than than #2 - keeps the aesthetic and makes it minimalist. The blacks cool too.

Yep, #1 or nowt. Lovely guitar, too - played some Duesenbergs a while back (there was a shop up in Huddersfield full of them, bizarrely) and I'd love one.

Sounds like the #1 you are referring to is the small curved version. (Edited original post: original in black, #1, #2)

So nice to hear some feedback Thanks

This. Anything else would be a mistake.

It has been decided. Unanimous despite my having confused things.

Thanks again.

Will post pics when completed.

This is definitely the correct answer.
