I don't usually dig this kind of thing, but...

Talk about all other types of guitars. Jazzmasters and basses go here!

The ol' lady just called me over to the television to check out Keith Urban and company playing Joe Cocker's version of "With a Little Help from My Friends" on what she called a "Telecaster"; naturally, I was intrigued by a sizable portion of the words in that sentence.

It was actually one of those killer La Cabronita Especial deals in Shoreline Gold, which is this guy here:

It can be yours, for a modest $5,260. (Sorry. Folks across the pond can feel free to research an alternate vendor by which to be monetarily violated.)

For a guy whose favorite bands include Mudhoney and Portishead, I'm not a huge fan of modern pop-country stuff -- but I will say that every time I've been forced to watch Keith Urban play a guitar, the man delivers.

I think tonight will be the night I start researching how I can fit my oft-neglected Tele Deluxe reissue with some of those TV Jones Classic toasters.

Here's a semi-related video featuring the inimitable Mr. Pontius:

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

way too much money, it doesn't even seem plausible that this guitar would cost that much. it does look nice but I'd expect a lot more with what I'm paying. half of that could maybe justify having 6 individual string benders. where is the gaudy shit? solid gold binding with diamond inserts! What, is shoreline gold paint actually made out of gold?

it does look nice, I am a fan of the color and such but in reality it looks like an easily copied & thousands of dollars cheaper guitar project.

there are plenty of tv jones copies out there that are pretty faithful too, are there not? if you like the look & sound try to make it.

It already looks like a parts guitar, seems like that's the way to go.

Am I really that dry? There's no way a sane man would be advocating the purchase of such a ridiculous guitar. It's a Custom Shop job, so obviously it's going to be a guitar no mortal man or woman would ever own -- at least not one that doesn't have a lifetime FDP membership.

I just remember seeing them somewhere liking the interesting marriage of classic simplicity with a very un-Fender electronics setup.

I got yr reasoning for the guitar, the price just had to be fought against. If you can get a marriage for $6000 go for it right?

I got ya. I enjoyed the post - it made me chortle.

I especially love how in the video the amp is too quiet to hear over the acoustic jangle of the strings on a solid-body electric guitar.

Well played, Fender - you bunch of muppets.

Yeah, the video is pretty much dogballs. There were a few others, but this one has so much information and unintentional comedy that I had to go for it.

The wankery is made even more offensive by the gringo missing by a mile on the pronunciation of "cabronita". I think if he would have taken it a step further and trilled that 'r', it would have actually been classed as an act of terrorism.

Moar deeper.

A video selling a $5k+ guitar really shouldn't have so many umms and uhhs.

I still don't understand how anyone can put 5k into a guitar.

Thing about the flow diagram from two bits of wood to fully blown guitar. Man hours, transport of resources, resources + 40% mark up (dependent on brand superiority and overheads).

Diminishing returns have diminished.

Fuck spending that amount of money for a Guitar that doesn't even give you a tone control.

Price aside I really like the design of the Cabronita guitars, really like the aesthetics.

Go to Warmoth an make your own for like $700 . And if you're really feeling froggy you can add a tone knob .

I tried to mimic that guitar with a Squier and a Retrotrons . Dynatrons in a tele are a great duo.

My thoughts entirely: if I was in the US, I'd have millions of Warmoths by now.

Why can't they put this level of thought and "innovation" into an affordable production model guitar?

I love them, wouldn't even bother with the custom shop one when you can get a guitar mill build for a fraction of the price.

The shoreline gold finish is special
