Flying V, it only took me 13 years...

Talk about all other types of guitars. Jazzmasters and basses go here!

Flying V, it only took me 13 years...

Post by Fran »

This is my oldest and most sentimental guitar that has had periods of neglect, finally i have sorted it out after 13 years of it having one thing or another not working.
When i bought this it had been refinished black on top of cherry red and then it went through the wars when my brother briefly owned it, then i restored it something like afterwards.
I was told it was an old Ibanez when i bought it but suspected it could be a lawsuit Tokai, either way, i dont know and there seems to be no way of finding out other than comparing the routing in the cavity maybe?
The only thing stock on it is the brass tail piece, i fitted some Kluson copies off benecol and won some vintage Yamaha SG PAF humbuckers which are some of the best pickups i've ever heard.

Heres some pics..

Maybe take a look at the back of the pickups or the tuners to see if it gives any clues as to the manufacturer?

I love V's. They are the realization of what electric guitar was/is all about.

They are aftermarket (Yamaha SG pups and Wilko Klusons). The routing is the only way i can think to identify it.

Thanks everyone.

Dave- If im not busy next week i'll see if i can knock some Rhoads out on it ;)

Such a lovely piece.

Great to see things back in order and being an able-bodied arrow in the quiver!
