$h!tars posting!

Post by broncobuster80 »

Ive seen "craptars" and other things people have posted up that they hate but I havent seen to many " I love this pile!" type of postings... anywho this is my loved Lotus strat copy!

I rescued it from certain death a couple of years ago and its been my kitchen dweller ever since. Im not going to say its best sounding thing ever but its got some real a_e interesting tones.. its a great "Im waiting on tea and need something to fill 5 minutes"

I don't understand this thread. Do you have to be a snob to get this?

No, it's a post your "beater" thread. I'm just knocking up some pics atm.

hahaha no way man... other end of the spectrum . I only paid 25 bucks for the guitar, I just wanted to see other peoples "jam" guitar... >yes I play my vintage and newer shorties in the house as well<.. Im sure everyone has got one.

I think Paul's point may be that some people just have guitars they like and no matter the price range/condition of the instrument they don't differentiate beaters & better.

The closest thing I had to a beater was a parts strat made out of a messed up sunburst squier strat body I've had since jr high, but then I put a 70s RI strat neck on it and later replaced the body with a fiesta red one and now it looks/sounds/plays amazing, I play it more than my AV '57 Strat and I'm always hoping nothing bad happens to it.

My Epi SG was totally a "beater" when I was younger after it suffered a neck break that I reset myself (luckily fluking a fairly decent repair as I didn't know anything about that back then) but in the last few years I've been trying to make it look more "70s cookie cutter" instead.

Right now has GFS Fat Pat in neck and DiMarzio DP100 in bridge because I liked those in my Epi LP. It also has a roller bridge and Tusq trem nut and stays in tune nicely with trem use.

Aye, pretty much.

I'm sure I've probably described my Jagmaster as a beater at some point, but I don't really see it as such. It's probably my favourite guitar and is as good an instrument as any other.

I didnt mean to offend anyone at all on their guitars. I dont understand the idea of not seeing a dif between your main guitars and your beaters though

I.E
my strat is beat to death but its my number 1 guitar, I dont consider it a beater.. it sees plenty of playing out time

my bronco (as youve seen) is not in perfect shape but its my number 3 (number 2 is a 75 penco japaul) - those I dont see as beaters

This Lotus is not good enough to hit the stage or studio but its very functional and serves great as a guitar just to have around the house of the case and ready to go at any time. (yes I have a duosonic that does the same but it sees some playout time as well)

$h!tar= guitar that plays well enough to practice on and keep but no way in h*ll you would take it to a stage, jam session or recording.

I totally get it, and don't think it's snobby or anything, but sometimes people don't partake in that particular classification.
Basically I used to make project guitars or modify used ones going "ok, beater strat/LP so I don't have to risk my nice one, etc..." but I learned that they all grow on me in the same kinds of ways eventually.

Lil plonker, but what I typed isn't entirely accurate in that the 70s RI neck was the first neck I ever had on that Squier body so the body change later was more like a lazy refinish. All the hardware, etc...
Also that neck is magic and makes the exact same super bassy/resonant strat on every body I've stuck it on. I think it's going to be a Jazzmaster one day.

Thought it was worth a fortune when I got it.
Then I took the pickguard off and found out it was just a hacked up, refinished Hagstrom II with a different headstock decal.

So a couple cans of Krylon pumpkin orange later:

The finish is super shit. The action is kinda gnehhh... It's now my DADAAD guitar.

Ah cool, I always have a guitar tuned to this tuning too. I used to call it the "Rhys Standard Tuning", but now that someone else uses this too I'm gonna have to think of a less pretentious, self serving name for it. :D

Well, it's called the Fucking Champ tuning, now. :)
We should have a DADAAD SS compilation.

My first guitar was a Lotus strat copy in sonic blue, rosewood neck and pearl pickguard. I loved that thing other than the pickups. I always wanted to drop a Duncan bucker in the bridge. Wish I still had it.

i usually have a couple within reach at all times, but generally i grab an acoustic for noodling around the house.
this would be the most recent picture of it..

it is also known as the closest guitar to the door when i'm asked to play a show 20 minutes before the doors would open for the show.
