Tales from Guitar Center (September Edition)

Post by taylornutt »

I went to Guitar Center today hoping to possibly see the new Taylor GS mini or perhaps one of the new Blacktop Fenders. Sadly neither were there, but I saw a few choice things instead.
White Mustang Bass for $499

Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster Thinline. My favorite of the CV Teles. The neck was awesome and sounded good. It barely beats out the CV Custom Tele. I wonder if it would be a good slide guitar.

CIJ Jaguar Special HH. I rock this one for a few minutes. Neck was amazing. Sounded great despite having the Dragsters. Strangle switch didn't work. I prefer the wider American switches over the Japanese ones.

Another Batwing Epiphone Strat. Not as cool as the other seafoam green one but it has the humbucker in the bridge. The price is right. I only want it because of the headstock.

1995 Taylor 422 with satin Maple wood. Played nice but needed a setup for the low E buzzing. Very nice.

If only that neck weren't so pasty white... I'd have one...
I'm all for you on the Jaguar HH, Its my main guitar. Playability alone made it so!

It's not quite as pale as my CV Duo Sonic and if you look at the Thinline Fender next to it, it's actually pretty similiar. I haven't seen any tinted Thinline necks in recent memory.

Mmm, delicious 'Stang bass! Reminds me of my delightful romp with Swing Hailey back in March '08:

But why do my eyes keep going back to that $299 Scumbag 'Paul?

Whether with a set of Phat Cats ready for it or not, I really shouldn't care about the thing. BUT I STARE.

i'm pretty sure the contents of roach and sub's garage are 100x more interesting than a guitar center.

I'd love to get that Mustang bass! And at that price, I wouldn't feel as guilty about redoing the paint job and switching the pickups.
