If WTR tried to make a demo of every guitar he bought it would be pointless because by the time he got his camera and microphone set up he'll have sold the guitar already!

The Electro brand was the Rickenbacker equivalent of Squier in the 50s, 60s and 70s. They were just cheaper alternatives to popular rickenbacker models.

Mo is right,it's is pretty much the same as the Rickenbacker 425 George played on this record. The only difference was the bodys weren't sanded as much,it had a lighter finish and a set-in neck.

They didn't really make alot of them. They are scarcer than the 425s. That's why you never heard of them. Vicki Peterson from the Bangles had one.It was her first electric guitar.

No,just those 2 models. the early ones were tulip shaped and the later ones were the cresting waves. They made them in small batches all the way up to 1983.The last ones had a higain pickup instead of the toaster.

Yeah,her's is a Rickenbacker 425.

Only difference is a better more polished finish on the 425.Also the 425 has a neck through the body and the ES-17 has a set-in neck. But they were both made at the same factory with the same wood,hardware and electrical parts.

I found out yesterday mine was made in January 1972. I didn't know before because the original bridge with the serial number is gone but yesterday I found pictures of my guitar in the Rickenbacker Resource Register (Link) . It's unmistakable because of the wear. I told the people at the Register and they put the guitar under my name. It's cool because before I knew the serial number the the guitar was kinda like an orphan.

Now I know the serial number is LA051.Maybe I can get it engraved if I get a repro bridge like this
