The Gibson Marauder
I've had mine for a little over 2 years now, i got it for £200 and spent some money replacing the toggle switch on it and having new machine heads fitted. Just wondering if anyone else has one and what they think of them?

No, but it looks very similar.westtexasred wrote:Cool Guitar, isn't that what Kim Shattuck plays?organicgav wrote:I've had mine for a little over 2 years now, i got it for £200 and spent some money replacing the toggle switch on it and having new machine heads fitted. Yeah. Chesney Hawkes has one. Seen him playing it at a charity gig:organicgav wrote:I've had mine for a little over 2 years now, i got it for £200 and spent some money replacing the toggle switch on it and having new machine heads fitted. Seems to like it.
Wow, you can type shit up here, I've never tried before..
I was gonna do the usual Doog-Marauder thing of "she will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine" until I saw:
With the proper matching stock bridge pickup.. oh man... humuna humuna humuna humuna..
£200 eh? Luck bastard, I spent £140 (I think) on a crappy copy a number of years back. Various parts of it fell apart so I dismantled it and sold the neck. Kinda miss it, definitely want to try/buy a real one at some point.

Haha, you're fucking right!!!
It's on my list of 'acceptable' Gibsons, Gav's actually sounds absolutely tremendous and aesthetically lowwwvley. A fucking bargain.
It's even lowwwwvlier in black/tort though
Welcome to the board Gav.
As if it wasn't confusing enough with stewart/stuart, doog/doug, 2 Al's and now 2 Scottish Gavin's.
Gav's a good guy, likes his bass loud and likes his gear... and already a fan of the Dwarfcrafts.
he's a total cunt with a drink in him though

It's an acceptable Gibson cause it plays sounds more like a fender...
Thank you Muhammad Al

Awful guitar. Take the rose tinted glasses off.
This model epitomizes why companies like Ibanez, Yamaha and Tokai were producing better quality guitars than Gibson by the late 1970s. The Peavey T-60's put these to shame and its only the decal that kept this guitar alive. It was a budget model and considering Les Pauls and SG's of that era are the most undesirable in Gibson history you'd assume this little fella has fuck all going for it. You'd be right too.

Mac McCaughan from Superchunk seemed to think that they had something to offer........and superchunk are F-en great
Interestiiiing, have you played one/some of them, Franster? I've not actually played a real one, I kinda wonder if the copy I had wasn't so far from the real deal..Fran wrote:Awful guitar. Take the rose tinted glasses off.

It just combines a lot of what I like in a guitar- solid tuning, angled bridge pickup, slightly odd cosmetics without being fugly. Maybe a custom DIY job is a better idea.
