The shape looks pretty good to me, it seems like its just the junky finish, and ugly ugly headstock logo. Really, if you were going to get one as a budget jag/jazz option, it wouldn't be too much effort to sand the headstock down and shoot it with a better looking (darker?) finish, and more appropriate sticker.

And, I guess people hate the whole truss rod thing but I don't really care a bunch about that. Then again, I am far from a purist.

Fuck that. Buy a new Fender to sand down the headstock, re-lacquer and put a new decal on? PMSL. This is sadly what its come to is it?

Also, why do them ebay listings state Vintage RI? Something these necks are clearly not.

Is that from the fella that parts things out? The bodies are under the same tag. Meanwhile, last I heard there were no vintage jazzmasters or jaguars with humbucker routes and no rhythm controls!

I didn't say I would be doing it, but. Heck.. If I found one of these necks used, I would certainly use it on the appropriate body.

Yeah. He's an idiot on principle, plus his descriptions are shocking.

I stand by everything i've said all along even more passionately after seeing these necks. They are awful, even the legendary decal cannot redeem these. In fact it makes them look worse than they probably are. They appear to be 24" Highway One necks.

I see that headstock and I want to paint it black. I think the whole guitar looks better painted black.

And it'd totally de-emphasize the funky truss rod, for reals.

Something that actually really bothers me now that I think about it, is how the jagmasters, which now run for much cheaper than these, have a more appropriate looking neck. Same headstock, but the much nicer, bigger sticker to suit such a massive headstock.

And, even the newer style ones, with the big logo, it at least takes your eye away from the truss rod opening.

I don't get it. What's wrong with the headstock? It looks fine to me.

It's too convenient to adjust the truss rod. People want it to be an unnecessary hassle.

It'd just look better black, is all. Easily solved.

Dunno about stickers and shit.

Goddamn me. Sorry, I forgot that Jaguars have to have the same shitty design as the original '65 or it's junk.

I mean what the fuck was Fender thinking, all putting a bridge that doesn't fucking suck and making the truss easy to adjust, or making a body that you can easily swap in any pickup you want, single or hums, with just a pickguard change.

Jesus, they are such pricks.

Please make another reissue of the '65 but tack on another adjective to the name. That would be perfect, thanks.

To be fair you may need to adjust your guitars truss perhaps once every five years, providing you usually use the same gauge strings and tuning (which most people do), having it on show for 'easy access' is just nonsense.
The small decal on a cbs style large headstock looks garbage too, it needs to be in proportion like on the Highway One models. As for the bridge and pups, the CP models have already addressed these issues. You can perform multiple pup changes on the HH models models by changing a pickguard, this is nothing new.
So once again i must say; these models are dogshit.

I have to adjust the truss at least twice per year, sometimes more due to the fact that weather here goes from 100+F to 5-F in a year. Humidity varies just as much. Maybe because you don't have to adjust it more than once every 5 years doesn't mean there aren't a fuck load more places on this planet with more varied of a climate.

The CP keeps the useless fucking rhythm circuit. Hey, maybe you like it, but there's a nice chunk of people who don't. That's what this model addresses. All of the shit the CP did, and then went a step further.

Jesus, for someone who scalloped his Jagstang fretboard and loves to shred despite it being unpopular and I stood up for, you're being surprisingly close-minded and trollish about this.

You and I live in different climates :)
I have to make some tweaks (at least with my basses) in the spring and fall to keep my instrument set up properly. True, guitar is a little less variable, but adjustments still need to be made from time to time. Personally, I think the headstock truss adjust is a great feature of this model, and I rue the fact that I will practically have to remove the neck on my '66 Classic to adjust it when the time comes. The Blacktop has its faults, but I really don't think this is one of them.

Fair point on humidity levels i suppose.
I'm not being closed minded, just airing my views on one of my favorite guitars that Fender have decided to butcher up. Its okay people going on about issues addressed but imo the big factor here is price, if these were $1,000 everyone would hate them. You'd just get a custom guard cut to do away with the rhythm circuit.
Trollish? I've only posted as frequently in this thread as i do others i hold an interest in, my content is on topic but because i'm being negative i'm trolling? I'm pleased you like this model but i dont, i'm not pissed at you or anyone else for liking it, i'm disappointed with Fender.
It was a Strat neck btw, beats paying £900 for a Malmsteen Strat.
