I have never seen a Baja Telecaster in a store. Mine will be the first one I have ever played.benecol wrote:... says the fella who's building a Baja.taylornutt wrote:Just buy one of these at Guitar Center.
I was merely trying to save him some money. The CV Custom Tele is $380 before you even consider Bigsby or new pup. The Special editon Squier with the Bigsby was $300. Though the neck was the driest neck I have ever played on any guitar. If he has his heart set on the CV Custom, it's a great guitar with a much better neck for sure.

Gutshots of the CV Tele Custom revealed MIM Standard body routing, which is always a bucker in the neck position.benecol wrote:Can you not see the post above? And how confident are you that the one you've posted is routed for a humbucker at the neck?
It's actually a really shitty compromise given the body-mounted pickup on the CVs and the depth of the bucker screw-clearance channels in the route.

I dunno man, IMO the tele w/ bigsby thing is really over hyped. one of the things that makes teles so cool is the bridge. hard tail, string though body, brass saddles; they're all significant parts of the tele sound. have you played some guitars with bigsbys before? it's not like a fender style tremolo.
I once thought as you do, and I've put bigsbys on a fair share of guitars but in almost ever case I've regretted it. you really can't use them for any kind of "modern" vibrato effects. they're only for stuff like bends and flutters at the end of a phrase. think: 50s/60s instrumental bands. if you are into that stuff... well OK then.
also, it effects the resale value of the guitar because you now have a guitar with an irreversible mod done to it. we all say we're gonna keep all our guitars forever but almost always life has a way of changing our minds.
so, some things to think about there.

Well, if you decide you take the bigsby off on the tele I sent you . . . let me know. I would be willing to take it off your hands for youMages wrote:I dunno man, IMO the tele w/ bigsby thing is really over hyped. one of the things that makes teles so cool is the bridge. hard tail, string though body, brass saddles; they're all significant parts of the tele sound. have you played some guitars with bigsbys before? it's not like a fender style tremolo.

follow me . . . . you won't

I already have the CV custom tele, and the humbuckers are on the way. As for the reselling value, I'm not going to sell this one (:D), but if I do, I'm pretty confident that I can get almost the money I spent back. Weight is not an issue, I'll take it as a exercise.
