Shield it, pot the pickups or swap 'em out for something noise cancelling

If I ever get a Japanese jaguar or something on the cheap, I might put the Billy Corgan rail pickups in it.

Nah it's microphonic feedback, not the "good" kind.

Generally caused by vibration which is why getting the claw off or glueing it in place is a good idea.

I'm not sure if there's any practical value to that but that's what the claws are supposedly meant to do.
Interestingly when I sent my Jag pups to be rewound, Tim at Bare Knuckle said that the claws would actually add bass - acting like a baseplate that is an option on their pickups.

They certainly don't 'shield' the pickups in any way. They look nice though.

I have a CIJ jag with some new Seymour Duncan antiquity pups with the same problem. The feedback is really harsh. Anyone here have any experience wax potting?
